Images Explained:
(top-down, left-right)
1. I put a treetop mountain skyline because I spent a summer in Colorado in Estes Park and loved just exploring the park and hiking the mountains, and I can't wait to go back. There's a van pasted on top because one of my dreams is to (sometime soon) renovate a big van to be a tiny home and travel around the country in it.
2. This is a picture of Hellboy, but the reason he's there is mostly because of the guy that drew him. Mike Mignola is my favorite artist, I can't get enough of his clean linework in an overall messy style, and his ability to create forms from his use of hard shading. I definitely want to actually get around to reading his stories though.
3. In the center I have the symbol of the band Rainbow Kitten Surprise. This is mine and my girlfriend's favorite band and I honestly couldn't pick a favorite song of theirs if I tried. I could pick a favorite music video, however, which is the one for It's Called: Freefall. It's one of their only animated videos and it devolves into this super colorful trippy sequence that contrasts the sepia tone of the rest of the video at the climax, and it's pretty dope.
4. I'm just going to lump these 2 photos together. Since I was a little kid, my family used to have movie nights almost every week and film has just always been apart of my life, influencing a lot of my creative energy. Film is that blend between art and storytelling that just speaks to me, especially when done well, which makes it ironic that Big Trouble in Little China is one of my favorite movies. It's definitely far from a masterpiece, but it hits that spot of "so bad it's good" for me. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but even when it does it's just too funny and makes itself incredibly rewatchable if you like to go on a wild ride and have a lot of fun in a movie.
