Project 1_Sage

After practicing with creating good and bad compositions in class I got a better feel for good filming and was able to come up with a more detailed comprehension of the story I wanted to tell in my first project.
I decided to have three main subjects: myself, and then two of my stuffed animals, Shakira the purple cat, and Celine the moth-woman. I wanted to illustrate a Toy Story-inspired scene of them falling in love and reuniting after I stepped out of my dorm.
I tried to take into consideration what kind of shots I wanted to portray each scene in even if I could really capture them in a rough sketch. I wrote a lot of notes to go along with my storyboard so that I would have a very clear script to follow as I filmed, and so that I wouldn't forget any details I wanted to include along the way.

I am super excited to start filming!!! :)

I started making some of the props I needed to give my two main subjects a range of expression. I drew and cut out different eyes and mouths for them that I would later tape on while filming.

The only other prop I need is a pair of goggles that my parents are mailing to me since I didn't bring them from home. Unfortunately, this prop has not yet arrived so I haven't been able to film the scene where Celine prepares to take flight.

I checked out a tripod and began filming my little story, doing my best to include many different types of shots.
Having such detailed descriptions in my storyboard helped a lot with filming.
I only added in one more shot to the project in order to get a better view of my laptop. The original shot (pictured above) wasn't close enough to show what I was typing, so I did a close up of the screen to better achieve the joke I wrote in my storyboard.

I first began adding all my scenes into premier in order without and editing. Then I watched them back and cropped them where I felt they dragged on for too long. afterward, I began to add transitions between each of the scenes to make the storyline feel more fluid.

Next, I started going in with effects to add drama or humor to certain scenes of the project. For example, when the two stuffed animals first fall in love I shifted the tones of the highlights and shadows to magenta and pink to give off a more romantic effect.

After this came the trickiest part for me personally: the audio. For some reason, the virus protecters on my laptop disabled me from downloading different audio clips from YouTube to insert them into my video. Luckily, one of my friends was able to help out and email all the clips to me.

I selected a variety of calm, intense, and romantic clips of music as well as a variety of sound effects to add to the video, which I felt really brought my original idea to life.
